Quiet Riot, what the fuck are you talking about? It is an event that has been given a new pair of D-cups and has now got Brisbane by the balls! With a new venue, new dj’s and and a remodelled look, Quiet Riot is now becoming one of Brisbane’s hottest events on a Sunday. With a new home at the X and Y Club in the valley, kids from all ages and all locations are coming in to check out why so many people have hangovers on a Monday. What the fuck is going on? Sundays were once considered to be a chill out time, recovery from a brutal weekend. To those people we say man the fuck up! Quiet Riot is bringing back the beef, no longer do we see the days of a ‘chill out Sunday sesh’. The two day bender is now a thing of the past, Sundays are packing heat, kicking goals and ploughing holes. Not only is Quiet Riot a place for dj’s like Noy and Aniki to drop bombs on your face but it is also somewhere where you can hear lounge music, electro and touch of that house shit, a perfect combination thrown in a bag and slapped with a big fuck off sticker reading “mooooooother fucker”

This week Quiet Riot is hosting a massive kick on party on Sunday after Winter Sounds. We are offering some of Brisbane’s hottest dj’s after a day that will surely make mum proud. Sick lights, frothing music and some of Brisbane’s hottest rig’s will surely bar you up (good luck trying), for a Sunday that will not only turn your brain over on the hot plate but will leave you feeling like a fucking pimp for the remainder of your week.

This week keeping in line with the massive dubstep night last Sunday, courtesy of Harrison and Wil, ( woop wo wowowowow woopp woop) I have posted a song that I am considering to be appropriate for all you kids likely to be coming down. A remix of a song those bastards are constantly dropping at clubs. Have a listen and tell me what you think.

Just a quick post while im finally at my computer again, the lovely bloggers turned record labelers over at BigStereo (CLICKY LINK!), one of my all time favourite blogs, have released the first signed artists on their label.

they go by Baby Monster and the song is called She Comes Alive, has been described as a perfect song for "coming out of the winter and into the spring thaw." Sigh such a northern hemispherical centric sentiment ha.

It is a very upbeat song and the intro winter audio is an interesting touch though so the description isn't too far off.

PS. we had a DMCA complaint last week, apparently artist don't like their music going for free? who woulda thunk it. so please if you see your music up here and you don't agree with the free publicity by all means email or comment us and tell us to take it down we will no questions asked :)

WE LOVE DEUCE DISCO!

Quiet RIOT's resident DJ's Deuce Disco (Kieran and Aleks), starting out on the south-side of Brisbane, hooked up in late 2007 after playing at a house party together. Aleks comes from a hip hop and funky house background and Kieran from a more electro/tech background. It is this diversity which makes the Deuce Disco a winning combination and through their union have encompassed and mastered a myriad of styles from hip hop through to tech-house. It is this broadness of style, as well as their dedication to music, that has allowed Deuce Disco to bring something new and fresh to the scene.

Before the coming together of Deuce Disco, the boys had played in many of the establishments Brisbane has to offer. It wasn't until the start of 2009 that Deuce Disco officially hit the scene. Since then they have played numerous venues including; Empire, Monastery, Barsoma, Uber and Limes Bar and ALLoneWORD.

Deuce Disco draws inspiration from such artists as David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Christopher Robin, Gui Boratto, Wongo, Jackson Searle, Ed Banger, Turbo Records, RUN DMC, Wu Tang, Beastie Boys, Switch and Diplo.

From juggling a plethora of appearances to spinning consistently good mixtapes and getting huge rowdy crowds sweating till the early hours of the morning - NOY sounds like a god damn circus on paper. With his pre-emptive style continuing to adapt at ever-increasing decibels, there’s no chance you’ll miss the Noy Boy Carnivale bump through town.

Stumbling into Monastery back in 2008, clasping only a pair of headphones and an overflowing CD wallet, NOY snuck into the booth, jumped on the decks and immediately whipped the club into a festival like frenzy. His casual nature made hard stuff look easy as he bopped around the decks, a sight that since then has become a very expected thing in the premier clubs of Brisbane. Throwing down what can only be described as straight up addictive party tunes, it’s impossible to argue that this fresh talent has stared back at his fair share of raging, sweaty crowds.

By mid 2009, NOY had spread his party fever all over an array of Queensland clubs and festivals, juggling his residencies at Monastery and Birdee’s with appearances at Empire, GPO, Family, Uber and Summafieldayze 2009 to name just a few. Still rocking out like he did at too many house parties from back in the day, the prominent local now gives thanks to an army of fans, translating to a Top 100 position in the 2009 ITM Polls and a freaky tendency to get booked at every good night in and around Brisbane. His support acts come as a testament to this statement, having danced around beside the likes of Oh Snap!, Riva Starr, Bart B More, Steve Aoki, Fake Blood and Sinden, this kid learnt how to party the right way.

Expect to see more of NOY in your nightlife ventures over the coming years, with his talent and progress evidently going somewhere good and production just around the corner, you better get your ticket for this circus pretty damn quick!

Quiet RIOT! feels like rad

Again, thanks to everyone who came to Quiet RIOT! again last week. It was an amazing turn out.

The Whitest Boy Alive are a german group who started in 2003 as an elecrtonica dance music project, but have evolved since to become a band with no programmed elements. Below is their single Burning which was released in 2007.

I can't get enough of Au Revoir Simone. The trio from Brooklyn, New York, make their music principally using keyboards, drum machines and hand percussion. Au Revoir Simone's sound is defined by their instrumentation.

Ticky Tak are an up and coming talent in the brisbane indie/electro scene. This song really does "feel like rad".

Quiet RIOT! has only been running for a mere three weeks now, but we've already started to build a reputation. Thanks to everyone who showed up last week to our Post-Stereosonic party! We were truly so impressed with the turnout that we've decided to host a V.I.P. christmas party on December 20th.

The Scare have been making quite a name for themselves in the Aussie music scene. I don't think I would be able to describe them any better than they do themselves.

"We like playing music, sleeping on floors, drinking gin and eating baked beans 200 days a year. We have played shows/festivals throughout UK, America and Europe. Toured with bands such as Gallows, We are Scientists, Die Die Die, Silverchair, Suicide and Perry Farrel's Satellite Party and played Reading/Leeds, Download and Wireless Festivals." (For triple j)

Florence Welch a.k.a. Florence and the Machine covers the full spectrum from soulful folk to punked-up indie.

A new favourite of mine is Higher Than the Starts by U.S. band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. They derive sounds from new wave, shoegazing, and dance-punk. I'm not at all embarrassed to admit that this one has been on repeat in my itunes on many occasions.

November Retrospective

Before i jet off to Europe i thought i'd put a whole host of fantastic tunes up here. There is no set genre or artistic direction here, just an assorted collection of new and semi-new tracks that i've loved over the past month or so.

First off is The Sound Of Arrows track Into The Clouds which is a short 4 minute rocket ship ride into the clouds...mmmm puns.

Next up is the absolutely upliftingly fantastical remix of Au Revoir Simone's Another Likely Story by the ever impressive Aeroplane. True to form the track rises and rises until Aeroplane make it their own by the 2nd chorus.

Third is a fairly old track that i recently heard get some airtime on Triple J which was postively uplifting. Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer is the track for any of you searching aimlessly for your pre summer, post uni anthem of lazyness.

Next is a new remix of Bertie Blackman by Calling in Sick, a bit of a regular on the Australian remixing scene (see: Bagraiders - Fun Punch (Calling in Sick Remix). This track, in the words of Electrorash, makes you believe the 07 bangers never really left us.

Finally two tracks by Munk whose voice and lyrics are always infectious and the remixes are always fantastic. First is a new track called No Milk which has been given the once over by Mercury and second is an old track, Live Fast Die Old, remixed by the Ed Banger Allstars and is a seminal track of summers past, present and future

LCDMF (Le Corps de Mince Francoise for the uninitiated) are an upbeat electro pop outfit based in Helsinki who have created a lot of hype surrounding their oft remixed blog released singles.

First up, one of their older tracks and a wonderful boppy driving song, Cool & Bored;

First of all, thanks to everyone that came to the inaugural Quiet Riot, good times were had by all with copious coronas being consumed... now keep coming guys!

But more on the music, talking to Youth before his set last Sunday, and then his subsequent set reminded me of a couple of oldish aussie short mixes that are perfect for Summer.

First up, Knightlife's classic remix of Like Woah! - Oh I Like with added Time Bandits goodness.

Not exactly hot off the presses but still deliciously warm like fresh baked cookies, a new Aeroplane track surfaced on the blogs last week or so. Apparently it's a remix of a Robbie Williams song but in true Aeroplane style it has been stretched, pulverised and morphed into its own song. Spaced out, cosmic and definitely a contender for one of the songs of summer.
